The strongest strategy I've got

After five years on LinkedIn, one strategy has stayed stronger than everything else.

Commenting.

Not posting. Commenting. And not the lazy kind, the strategic kind. Here are the three pieces of how I do it.

1. Comment Lists

If you're frustrated on LinkedIn, I can almost guarantee the reason: you're in your feed too much.

The feed is a slot machine. It's designed to keep you scrolling, comparing, and feeling vaguely behind. So I don't live there. I keep a list of specific profiles I visit daily, people I want to be in front of, people whose audiences overlap with mine and I go straight to them. I often never make it to my feed at all.

That one move changes everything. You go from reacting to whatever the algorithm serves you to choosing where your attention goes.

2. Comment Goals

If you're leaving comments aimlessly, you'll never know when you're done. So you scroll forever, or you quit early, and either way you feel terrible about it.

There has to be a method to the madness. A number. A list. A finish line. When commenting has a defined goal, you actually feel and are  accomplished. You close the app on a win instead of a vague guilt.

3. Comment Quality

This is the one thing that's genuinely shifted. You can't just smack "Great post!" on a page anymore and expect it to do anything.

So I've flipped my ratio. More time per comment. Fewer comments overall. A real reaction, a real add, a real question left on the right profiles. That's enough. It was always about depth, and now it's about depth even more.

Lists give you direction. Goals give you a finish line. Quality gives you the result.

That's the whole system. It's not glamorous. It just works, year after year, while the flashier tactics come and go.

"I don't want to be another newsletter in your inbox. I want to be an actionletter. In every edition, I'll include a 'Go-and-Do' [below] to help you take an action step TODAY that improves your LinkedIn™ performance, your business, or even your life."

Go and Do:

Build your comment list. Open a note and write down 10 profiles you want to be visible to. Tomorrow, skip the feed entirely go straight to those 10 and leave one thoughtful comment on each.

Ten profiles. One real comment each. That's the rep.

One More Thing - The LinkedIn™ Spark Community

If today's edition resonated, you'd love the room I built for people who want to take this seriously.

The LinkedIn™ Spark Community is for people who want three things most LinkedIn advice doesn't deliver together: education, accountability, and real networking.

Inside, we focus on:

· LinkedIn strategy that actually moves the needle

· How to become a sharper writer (because writing is the work)

· Content systems, not content luck

· Guest speakers, "hot seat" sessions, and presentations from members themselves

You also get one 1:1 call with me per quarter. This is not a group where you post once and disappear. It's a community where people show up, sharpen each other, and build the kind of presence that compounds.

How I moved 52 people into my pipeline
I moved 52 people into my pipeline in one week. Here's exactly how. But first, two confessions because I got this wrong twice before I got it right. For my first two years on LinkedIn, I sent zero connection requests. Not one. I told myself I'd let the work speak for itself. Translation: I left the front door locked and wondered why nobody came in. Then I overcorrected. I started maxing out my ...
Stop asking "is this good?"
Most people edit their writing by asking the wrong question. They write a post, read it back, and ask: "Is this good?" It's the wrong filter. "Good" is a feeling, and your feelings about your own writing are unreliable on a Tuesday. Ask this instead: "Is this specific?" Because weak writing is vague. Strong writing is concrete. That's not a style preference, it's the difference between a reader...
My best posts are never about LinkedIn
I'm a LinkedIn ghostwriter. So this feels like admitting something I probably shouldn't. My best LinkedIn posts are never about LinkedIn. It's true. The posts that get the best engagement, the ones that occasionally go a little viral are about my personal life. My values. My kids. A piece of social commentary. Sometimes just a meme. (And "viral" is relative here. I'm no Taylor Swift.) The posts...
