The 4 Post Types to Cycle Through on LinkedIn

Oct 13, 2026
Connect

If you never know what to post, stop guessing and start cycling.

There are 4 types of posts. Hit all 4 in a week and you have a content strategy. That is the whole thing.

1. Educational.

How you did something. How to do something. A strong opinion about the way your industry gets something wrong. This is the post that proves you know your work, and it is the post most people are best at. It is also the one that gets shared, because sharing it makes your reader look smart too.

2. Social proof.

A client win. Use real numbers when you have permission. "We helped a client grow" is a sentence nobody remembers. "We took a subcontractor from 45 days in receivables to 22" is a sentence somebody screenshots. If you cannot use numbers, use the before and after in the client's own words.

3. Stories.

The bad hire. The embarrassing moment. The deal you lost because you talked too much. Wrap it in value or wrap it in humor, but wrap it in something, because a story with no point is a diary entry. These are the posts that make people feel like they know you, and that is what makes them DM you 6 months later.

4. Offer.

Actually ask for the sale. Say what you do, say who it is for, say how to start. This is the post everybody skips, and it is the only one whose job is conversion. [It gets its own edition. Keep reading this series.]

I do not hit a perfect cycle. Some weeks I write 3 educational posts because I am fired up about something. But across a week, I hit all 4 at least once, and that is enough to keep the account balanced.

Balance is the point. Educational posts alone make you a textbook. Stories alone make you a diary. Social proof alone makes you a billboard. Offers alone make you a pest. Together, they make you a business.

I don't want to be another newsletter in your inbox. I want to be an actionletter. In every edition, I'll include a "Go-and-Do" below to help you take an action step TODAY that improves your LinkedIn™ performance, your business, or even your life.

THE GO-AND-DO

Pull up your last 8 posts and tag each one: educational, social proof, story, or offer. Whichever category has the fewest, write that post today. I already know it is offer.

One More Thing - The LinkedIn™ Spark Community

If today's edition resonated, you'd love the room I built for people who want to take this seriously.

The LinkedIn™ Spark Community is for people who want three things most LinkedIn advice doesn't deliver together: education, accountability, and real networking.

Inside, we focus on:

· LinkedIn strategy that actually moves the needle

· How to become a sharper writer (because writing is the work)

· Content systems, not content luck

· Guest speakers, "hot seat" sessions, and presentations from members themselves

You also get one 1:1 call with me per quarter. This is not a group where you post once and disappear. It's a community where people show up, sharpen each other, and build the kind of presence that compounds.

What to Post on LinkedIn When You Have No Ideas
You do not have an ideas problem. You have a capture problem. Ideas come to you in the shower. In the pickup line. At 11pm when you are half asleep. Then you sit down Tuesday morning with a blank screen and nothing. The idea was never the issue. You just had nowhere to put it. Here are the 3 systems I use. None cost money. None require you to add anything to your tech stack. 1. One note in your...
How to Find the Stories That Should Anchor Your Brand
My best posts are almost always stories. That does not mean every post should be a story. It means you should know your stories cold, because the stories you repeat become your brand. I call mine cornerstone stories. Here are my 3: 1. I was a broke single mom when I came to LinkedIn. 2. I watched my dad go from poverty to millionaire. 3. I was the last person to find out about my 2018 divorce. ...
Why Nobody Is Reading Your LinkedIn Posts
You wrote a good post. You know the topic. You have lived the story. You hit publish, and it got 4 likes, 3 of them from people who like everything. Before you blame the algorithm, look at the shape of the post on the screen. Formatting matters as much as content on LinkedIn. A wall of paragraphs gets scrolled past no matter how good the paragraphs are. You do not have to write broetry. You do ...
