How often should you share social proof?

I get this question constantly, usually whispered, like there's a shameful answer. Like there's a limit and you don't want to cross it.

Here's my real answer: if you share it well, do it again and again. I suggest every single week.

The fear is always the same, won't I look braggy? Won't people get sick of it? They won't. Not if you do it right. Because "doing it right" means the post isn't actually about you at all.

A strong social proof post passes three tests. If it can:

➜ Make your client the hero ➜ Demonstrate a real transformation ➜ Show how you did it in a way that's genuinely helpful

...then you've quietly checked three content boxes at once. You've told a story. You've taught something. And you've proven you can do the thing without ever saying "I'm so great."

That's the trick. Bad social proof says look how good I am. Good social proof says look what's possible, here's someone who did it, and here's how. The reader sees themselves in your client's "before." That's what makes them reach out.

Take my client Josh Luebker, a fractional CFO in the construction space. He's crushing it in his field and on LinkedIn. Not by accident. Because he's paying close attention, doing the work, and showing up consistently.

And for some of you reading this? Just starting there, paying attention and showing up is half the battle won.

So no, there's no shame limit on social proof. There's only a quality bar. Clear it, and you can share every week without ever sounding like a billboard.

"I don't want to be another newsletter in your inbox. I want to be an actionletter. In every edition, I'll include a 'Go-and-Do' [below] to help you take an action step TODAY that improves your LinkedIn™ performance, your business, or even your life."

Go and Do:

Draft one social proof post this week and run it through the 3-box test: Is your client the hero? Is there a real transformation? Did you show how?

If you can't check all three, rework it until you can. Then post it and put it on the calendar to do again next week.

One More Thing - The LinkedIn™ Spark Community

If today's edition resonated, you'd love the room I built for people who want to take this seriously.

The LinkedIn™ Spark Community is for people who want three things most LinkedIn advice doesn't deliver together: education, accountability, and real networking.

Inside, we focus on:

· LinkedIn strategy that actually moves the needle

· How to become a sharper writer (because writing is the work)

· Content systems, not content luck

· Guest speakers, "hot seat" sessions, and presentations from members themselves

You also get one 1:1 call with me per quarter. This is not a group where you post once and disappear. It's a community where people show up, sharpen each other, and build the kind of presence that compounds.

Sell. Create. Dream. (In that order.)
Here's how we like to think our businesses run: 1. Dream 2. Create 3. Sell First you develop the work. Then you build it. Then, finally, when it's polished and ready and you've earned the right, you tell people about it. It's a lovely story. It's also backwards. Here's how it actually goes for the businesses that grow fastest: 1. Sell 2. Create 3. Dream They start by putting their ideas into th...
Every excuse I ever made
Here's the list. Every excuse I made for two years while I stopped and started my way through LinkedIn. "I don't have time." "I'm not a content person." "I don't want to be cringe." "I don't know what to say." "I don't want to sound like everyone else." "My work speaks for itself." "I don't want clients from LinkedIn." "I'll do it when things calm down." "I need to get my brand right first." "I...
You don't have to start at the beginning
Here's a permission slip most people never get on LinkedIn: You don't have to tell a chronological story. You don't have to start at the start. You don't have to give the setup, the background, the "so a little context first." You can drop your reader straight into the moment that matters and trust them to keep up. Because honestly? The announcements, the introductions, the team-offsite hype, w...
