Why Nobody Is Reading Your LinkedIn Posts
You wrote a good post.
You know the topic. You have lived the story. You hit publish, and it got 4 likes, 3 of them from people who like everything.
Before you blame the algorithm, look at the shape of the post on the screen.
Formatting matters as much as content on LinkedIn. A wall of paragraphs gets scrolled past no matter how good the paragraphs are.
You do not have to write broetry. You do not have to spend 30 minutes counting line breaks. You need 1 structure you can repeat every time you sit down.
I use the 3-2-1.
3: The first 3 lines.
These are the lines people see before they click "see more." Their only job is to earn that click. Every hook makes a promise, and the rest of the post has to pay that promise off. Write the hook the way your reader would type the question into Google or ChatGPT, not the way a copywriter would open a landing page. [And do not write clickbait. Your reader remembers who wasted their time.]
2: A maximum of 2 insights.
The body of your post gets 2 ideas. That is the ceiling, not the target. My favorite version is 1 problem plus 1 solution, which is exactly what this newsletter is doing to you right now. When you stuff 5 ideas into 1 post, your reader keeps none of them. 1 post, 1 point, 1 thing they can repeat to a coworker.
1: One clear close.
End with 1 thing your reader can do today. Not a summary of what you just said. Not a philosophy about the future of work. An action small enough to finish before lunch. If someone reads your post and cannot name a next step, you wrote entertainment.
Here is why the 3-2-1 works.
It puts your best line where people can actually see it. It keeps you from burying the point in the middle of paragraph 4. And it forces you to decide what you want the reader to do, which is the part most people skip entirely.
The 3-2-1 also saves you time. Most of the hours you lose to a post get spent staring at a blank page deciding what shape the thing should take. This decides for you.
Nothing about posting consistently on LinkedIn is easy. But 3-2-1 makes it faster, and it makes your posts easier to read.
I don't want to be another newsletter in your inbox. I want to be an actionletter. In every edition, I'll include a "Go-and-Do" below to help you take an action step TODAY that improves your LinkedIn™ performance, your business, or even your life.
THE GO-AND-DO
Open your last 3 posts and count the ideas in each one. If a post has more than 2, split it into 2 posts and schedule the second one for next week. You just got a free post out of work you already did.
One More Thing - The LinkedIn™ Spark Community
If today's edition resonated, you'd love the room I built for people who want to take this seriously.
The LinkedIn™ Spark Community is for people who want three things most LinkedIn advice doesn't deliver together: education, accountability, and real networking.
Inside, we focus on:
· LinkedIn strategy that actually moves the needle
· How to become a sharper writer (because writing is the work)
· Content systems, not content luck
· Guest speakers, "hot seat" sessions, and presentations from members themselves
You also get one 1:1 call with me per quarter. This is not a group where you post once and disappear. It's a community where people show up, sharpen each other, and build the kind of presence that compounds.
