Are You Misusing These Key LinkedIn™ Features?
Hey!
Let’s be real—LinkedIn™ can be a powerful tool, but it's easy to misuse some of its features. How do I know? I’ve made these mistakes myself.
Here are 3 LinkedIn™ assets I see people misusing (my past self included):
1. The Featured Section
What it’s not: A graveyard for old, viral posts.
What it is: A prime space for your most important links—especially ways for people to connect or learn more about you.
Tip: Add resources like free guides, links to your website, or a calendar link. You can update this by clicking “Add Profile Section” beneath your follower count.
2. Hashtags
Hashtags were powerful during LinkedIn's Creator Mode era—but that’s changed.
The reality: Hashtags are still clickable, but they’ve lost their algorithmic potency. Overloading your posts with them can make your strategy look outdated.
Tip: Focus less on hashtags and more on engaging with your audience through comments and DMs—they boost visibility far more than a “#.”
3. Clear Call to Action (CTA)
When you give people too many options (visit your website, download your free quiz, check your Featured section), they often do nothing.
The solution: Focus on ONE clear CTA for each season or campaign.
Tip: Lead with this CTA in your posts, your Featured section, and even your LinkedIn banner. Keep it consistent and easy to follow.
A Personal Note
This last one? I’m working on it, too. Most of these newsletters are written as reminders to myself as much as they are to you.
We’re all a work in progress—but the key is noticing what isn’t working and making small, meaningful adjustments.
Which LinkedIn feature do you find most confusing or hard to optimize? Hit reply and let me know—I’d love to help!
