... We All Have Secrets
I was in San Diego recently.
We went to a museum in Balboa.
It had an exhibit called “The History of Us.”
One display stopped me in my tracks — Frank Warren’s PostSecret project.
In 2004, Frank started collecting secrets.
He handed out thousands of blank postcards and asked people to write down their deepest secrets.
Anonymously.
And they did.
A Few of the Secrets Shared
“I haven't spoken to my best friend in 2 years because I'm jealous of her success.”
“I had a baby at 16 that my husband and children don't know about.”
“I pretend to be confident, but I'm terrified most of the time.”
Millions of people connected with these secrets.
Not because they were dramatic.
But because they were real.
Someone else felt what they felt.
Someone else struggled with what they struggled with.
These postcards became a reminder of something universal:
We all want to be known.
Not the highlight reel version.
Not the polished LinkedIn post version.
The real version.
What This Has to Do With LinkedIn
In a way, LinkedIn gives us a similar forum.
A space to share pieces of our story.
To be vulnerable.
To connect.
When you post about your failures, people relate.
When you share your struggles, people connect.
When you admit you don’t have it all figured out, people exhale and say,
“Me too.”
The most powerful posts I see aren’t about success.
They’re about humanity.
Your story matters.
Your wins matter.
Your struggles matter.
Someone needs to hear it.
Someone needs to know they’re not alone.

I don't want to be another newsletter in your inbox. I want to be an actionletter. In every edition, I'll include a "Go-and-Do" [below] to help you take an action step TODAY that improves your LinkedIn™ performance, your business, or even your life.
The Go and Do
-
Take a moment to think of one truth about yourself you rarely share.
-
Ask: What part of this truth might help someone else feel less alone?
-
Consider turning that truth into a post — not to perform, but to connect.
-
Even a few honest sentences can build bridges stronger than polished content ever could.
