How Long Do I Have to Post Before I “Win” on LinkedIn?
This question comes up a lot:
“How long do I have to post consistently before I start getting [fill-in-the-blank win]?”
Leads. Engagement. Growth. Opportunities.
And the honest answer?
Most people quit before they ever find out.
A Few Data Points:
➜ Only about 1% of users post regularly.
➜ Most of that 1% quits after 1–3 months.
➜ A tiny fraction ever gives themselves a real shot.
So if you’re posting, you’re already ahead of most people.
If you stay consistent, you’re in the top sliver of that sliver.
But it’s a fair question:
When can you actually expect to see some wins?
(Whatever “winning” means to you.)
A Generalized LinkedIn Timeline
Consistent = posting and commenting at least 3 days a week, same time, same days.
0–90 Days
-
You will want to quit every day.
-
You’ll start to learn people’s names — and they’ll learn yours.
-
You’ll wrestle with imposter syndrome, annoyance, and burnout.
90–120 Days
-
You will want to quit once a week.
-
You’ve already made it further than most.
-
Your follower count and engagement start to rise.
LinkedIn trusts you and rewards consistency.
6–12 Months
-
You will want to quit once a month.
-
Your audience and messaging start clicking.
-
You have leads — some qualified — and real opportunities.
12–18 Months
-
Quitting is no longer on the table.
-
You’ve built a name for yourself — with both your audience and the algorithm.
-
You’re at a critical juncture. Your offer matures. Your audience evolves.
-
You may even find yourself helping others do what you’ve done.
“But Holly, that’s a lot of work.”
Yeah. It is.
But show me where else this kind of organic momentum is possible.
With the right systems.
With the right community.
With the right mindset.
It’s math and time.
The only thing standing in the way?
You.

I don't want to be another newsletter in your inbox. I want to be an actionletter. In every edition, I'll include a "Go-and-Do" [below] to help you take an action step TODAY that improves your LinkedIn™ performance, your business, or even your life.
The Go and Do
-
Look at your posting history over the last 90 days.
-
Which “phase” are you actually in? (0–90, 90–120, 6–12 months, 12–18 months)
-
Set one realistic consistency goal for the next 30 days.
(Example: 3 posts + 3 comment blocks per week.) -
Write it down. Commit to it.
This game rewards people who stay in it long enough to win.
