1 writing hack that helps every time:
If you want to get better at writing fast, here’s a rule that will upgrade almost everything you publish: Cut the first 4 lines of your post.
I’m serious.
Most people don’t start writing when they start typing.
They warm up.
That’s the part readers skim.
Weak opening:
“Over the past few years, I’ve been thinking a lot about leadership and what it really means to build a team.”
Stronger opening:
“Most leaders confuse activity with leadership.”
Same topic.
One just gets to the point.
Here’s the 2-minute edit:
-
Finish your draft.
-
Delete the first 4 lines.
-
Look at your last line. That's probably the hook.
-
Read it again.
If it still makes sense—it’s better.
If it doesn’t—pull one sentence from that first paragraph and make it shorter.
Strong writing is rarely about adding more.
It’s about removing the fluff.
When you trust your point enough to start with it, your writing immediately feels more confident.
Try it on your next post.
Cut the warm-up.
Start with the punch.
