1 truth to accept about LinkedIn™...

One truth we should all accept about LinkedIn:

You can post daily.
You can post helpfully.
You can post strategically.
You can post aesthetically.

You can follow all the LinkedIn-lebrities and do every single thing they tell you to do. ... and still not become "famous" on LinkedIn.

It's not going to happen for everyone.
Cold, hard facts.

But also ... facts that may set you free a little?

Because you can still ...

Help people.
Make money.
Share your story.
Create meaningful relationships.
And become part of a community that shows up for you.

But if you're just here for the glory, you may end up disappointed.

Knowing your "why" on LinkedIn is critical to your experience here.

Have you defined WHY you're here?

Maybe you're here to...
Educate.
Connect.
Get leads.
Make friends.
Grow brand awareness.
Build industry authority.
Get the words swimming in your head OUT.

... and you can do all that without becoming "famous."

The Go and DO

I don't want to be another newsletter in your inbox. I want to be an actionletter. In every edition, I'll include a "Go-and-Do" [below] to help you take an action step TODAY that improves your LinkedIn™ performance, your business, or even your life.

Before your next post, take 7 quiet minutes and do this:

Step 1: Finish this sentence—once.
“I will consider LinkedIn working for me if ______ happens.”

Not “go viral.”
Not “get noticed.”
Be concrete:

  • “I book two aligned calls a month.”

  • “People reply to my posts and tell me they felt seen.”

  • “I enjoy showing up here again.”

Step 2: Choose one primary reason you’re here.
Just one:

  • Leads

  • Learning

  • Community

  • Authority

  • Expression

Everything else is secondary. [Once you reach that goal, you can choose another.]

Step 3: Audit your last 3 posts.
Ask:
➜ Did these serve my reason—or someone else’s definition of success?
➜ Am I posting for clarity… or applause?

Step 4: Adjust your next post accordingly.
If you want leads → be clearer.
If you want community → be more human.
If you want expression → stop self-editing so hard.

You don’t need fame for LinkedIn to change your life.
You just need alignment.

An honest one. Example: “I’m frustrated that this post sounds like everyone else’s.” “I don’t actually know what I think about this y...
10 lessons on writing...
I've been a writing for aliving for almost 20 years. Here are 10 things I've learned: 1. To be a "writer," the qualifications are simple: You write. 2. Writing well is hard. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't been writing long enough. 3. You don't have to write linearly. If you know where you want to land, start with the last sentence ("punchline" or "reveal") and build around it. 4. Writing is t...
My #1 LinkedIn pet peeve...
Don't confuse exceptions on LinkedIn for rules. One LinkedIn hill I'll die on: What you do on LinkedIn changes over scale. What the biggest creators are doing right now? Is not what they did at the start of their scale. Even what I do right now? Not the same. When the big creators say: "You don't need a post attachment." "You don't have to post consistently." I find it ... Worrisome. Because an...
